1. Natural gas producers are usually conservative and don't donate to the Democrats. In California, Newsom and Co. are beholden to PG&E which generates and sells power but only carries gas produced by others. Biden's chosen policies favor taking cheap gas from Americans, liquefying it and sending it to Europe at quintuple to ten times the price of cheap Russian gas. Like food prices doubled for foreign policy goals, your loss of natural gas heat is just another sacrifice foisted off on you for someone else's benefit.

2. Less natural gas means more electricity used which favors the nuclear power industry which has totally captured Newsom as evidenced by his extending Diablo Canyon's license and convincing Biden to throw a billion bucks of your tax money PG&E's way.

3. Natural gas is natural, produced continually by rotting vegetation and geology. It seeps out of the ground and from marshes, goes airborne and its main component, methane, is a far worse greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide which, along with water vapor, is what you get after burning it to create wring almost all its energy out through useful heat. Lots of gas is a byproduct of oil well drilling and if not used in homes and industry, is flared off, a total waste.

Burning coal, or digging up uranium, or burning natural gas to produce electricity wastes much of the energy through line losses and inefficiency.

4. Electricity can be switched off instantly, including via smart meters, which can be remotely turned off on a house by house basis. That equals control of people and mobility of people through electric vehicles which need recharging.

5. When's the last time a tree took out a gas line? The snow in the Sierras is in places almost up to the high voltage lines atop local power poles which means complete blackouts, shivering in the dark, no bathing and cold food. Newsom's favorite donor's criminal malfeasance, expressed through Falling trees, means neighborhoods burn and people die.

The hundreds of thousands shivering in power failures during these storms are going to be a hard sell for all electric houses and industries.
6. Limiting the use of natural gas helps lower the price of natural gas futures and helps thus economically weakens the Russian boogeyman, which simply pumps East to China and creates a market for LNG exports to a crippled and weakened Europe.
